I agree, if the price was right I would say pull the trigger... would gladly put Richards name in the hat if it wouldn't effect Carters attitude.. but no go on Toffoli, he actually shoots the puck and we need that.

I would actually entertain Brown in this scenario and would love to see Kopi take the Captain role.

The Gagner trade makes no sense, because we would still have to involve someone with a moderate salary to make it work and I am not sure where he fits in the line up...

Gaborik... I like that idea, we have enough defensibly responsible forwards (barring Richards of course) and I would love to see someone with wheels, stick handling and finishing capabilities in the top six..

You can't deny that the Brown, Richards and Williams line is completely flaccid... so that's where I see the void.. second line.. the new top line could work if given more time.

Only way I would trade anything pretty decent or more for Vanek is if there was a guarantee he would re-sign with the Kings. I have no idea how the Isles think they can get that much when I am sure all the GM's are aware Minnesota is where he will likely go.

No thanks to Gagner either. Heard a lot of bad things about him and will do even worse in the Kings system.

I hate to say it but any highly skilled forward who comes to the Kings will cut their production down by at least 1/4 with this system.

I am sure DL will make an offer to Vanek in the off-season but no way he signs in LA unfortunately. I just hope he doesn't do a Kovalchuck and take all summer and use teams to get his choice team to up the ante.

You think GArth Snow is a little po'ed Vanek let the whole world know he is going to test the FA market July 1st? If it doesn't bring down his value, it sure limits his number of teams willing to pitch an offer for him.

I can't disagree with you. Islander fans that think they will easily recoup the cost for Vanek will be in for a surprise with the return. It will likely be decent, but not the haul they gave up.

Only team I see to overpay a lot is a team that is going all in and in the WIN NOW mode knowing he is 100% a rental for this season only. Not sure how many are going to be in that mentality though to offer anything close to it.

lol no it won't, he is literally the best thing on the trade deadline market, Isles can keep 50% of his contract so it will be a 2,875,000 cap hit. Isles should take as much as they can in trade.

FYI it was rumoured that the Kings could have acquired Hodgson from the Canucks for Clifford at the TDL a few years back.
